Mary Margaret Briggs’ artwork has two influences; the four years she spent living and traveling in Asia, and the verdant beauty of her Vashon Island home. Working from a studio surrounded by fields and gardens, she creates collaged panels composed of botanical or abstract monotypes.

Briggs is known for monotypes printed from her garden’s foliage, creating vivid photographic effects. Her textile design career reveals itself through the evolving color palettes she works in.

After creating a portfolio of related prints, she cuts them apart and recombines them into collages with modern, graphic proportions. Her finished panels gleam with a soft, waxy glow.
